Back to TidyText

This is probably the shortest cookie policy you'll ever read — because there's almost nothing to say.

Cookies used by TidyText

TidyText uses zero cookies.
No tracking. No analytics. No advertising.

There is no consent banner. There is nothing to accept or decline. We don't use cookies at all — not first-party, not third-party, not functional, not essential. Nothing.

What we do use: localStorage

TidyText uses your browser's localStorage — a standard browser feature — to remember your settings between sessions. This is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any server.

Key What it stores When deleted
apiKey Your AI provider API key (stays on your device only) When you clear it in settings or clear browser storage
provider Your chosen AI provider (e.g. Gemini, OpenAI) When you clear browser storage
theme Your dark/light mode preference When you clear browser storage
tone Your preferred writing tone setting When you clear browser storage

localStorage is not a cookie. It doesn't expire automatically, it isn't sent with HTTP requests, and it's scoped entirely to your device and browser.

Third-party scripts

TidyText loads fonts from Google Fonts. This involves a request to Google's servers, which may log your IP address per their own privacy policy. We load these with rel="preconnect" for performance, but no tracking data is exchanged on our end.

We use no analytics (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Mixpanel). We use no advertising networks. We use no social tracking pixels.

How to clear your data

To remove everything TidyText has stored on your device, open your browser's developer tools (F12), go to Application → Local Storage, and delete the entries for the TidyText domain. Or use your browser's "Clear site data" option in settings.
